Ode to Fish

I like fish

Tilapia
Salmon
Halibut
Trout

Broiled
Steamed
okay, even fried

but my favorite fish is Goldie, the betta
you were my best pet
1.5 years old-to-me
but probably really almost 4

I'm not sure why you died
I left a light on
slow release feeding cube (which I noticed you didn't touch)
I even cleaned the tank before I left

It would really stink if you died because you didn't know the cube was food

I miss how you would come check things out when I wash my hands
I miss how you get scared by the bubbles
I miss how you wouldn't eat the yellow flakes
